Exminster Marshes - Little Ringed Plover showing well at 12.45, viewable from car park. Summer plumaged Water Pipit still present.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still offshore with 5 Velvet Scoter and a summer plumaged Black-throated Diver.

Powderham - Cattle Egret still in field near Powderham Castle early afternoon.

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit still south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, east of A379 at Youngs Waterpark just east of boardwalk at 10.20. Access east along road opposite leisure centre car park. SX.892.598.

Goodrington - 6 Black-necked Grebes and a Slavonian Grebe offshore.

Slapton - 2 Garganey, female Marsh Harrier and a Slavonian Grebe present.

Beesands - Drake Garganey at Beesands Ley.

Countess Wear - Female Scaup still at Matford Pools.

Thurlestone - Black-throated Diver in Thurlestone Bay as well as a Purple Sandpiper. Drake Garganey still on Thurlestone Marsh.

Colyford Common - Osprey and 2 Little Ringed Plovers present early evening (Thanks K. Hale). 2 White Wagtails and 3 House Martins also onsite.

Pottington - Iceland Gull at Bradiford Water outfall at 12.30 SS.536.338.

Penhil Marsh - 3 Spoonbills present early afternoon at SS.534.335.

Monday 30th

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit still south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, east of A379 at Youngs Waterpark just east of boardwalk at 16.00. Access east along road opposite leisure centre car park.

South Milton - Siberian Chiffchaff on north side of sewage works at South Milton Ley along with 2 Willow Warblers.

Thurlestone - Drake Garganey still on Thurlestone Marsh.

Countess Wear - Female Scaup and 2 Green Sandpiper still on Matford Pools.

Sunday 29th

Honiton - Red Kite over north east at 15.10 (Thanks P. Johnson)

Bystock NR - Grasshopper Warbler reported singing at far end of reserve at 16.10.

Prawle Point - 50+ Manx Shearwaters past.

Berry Head - 2 Wheatears early morning (Thanks J. Marshall)

Pottington - Juvenile Iceland Gull on Taw Estuary along with 2 Spoonbills and 2 Goosanders.

Bideford - First winter Little Gull still at Southcott Valley at 10.30.

Budleigh Salterton - No sign of first winter American Herring Gull on Otter Estuary SY.075.820 by early evening. Water Pipit near hide.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still offshore with 3 Slavonian Grebes, a Red-throated Diver and 7 Sandwich Terns. White Wagtail and Swallow over.

Exminster Marshes - Adult Spoonbill still present at 4pm as well as a Water Pipit.

Plymouth - 2 Black Redstarts at Ford Park Cemetry.

Thurlestone - Black-throated Diver in Thurlestone Bay.

Bideford - First winter Little Gull still at Southcott valley at 10.30.

Kenwith NR - 4 Mandarins flew over.

Friday 20th

Budleigh Salterton - First winter American Herring Gull again on the Otter Estuary showing well from the viewing platform at 09.20.

Exminster Marshes - Osprey circling north of the marshes then flew down the estuary carrying a fish at 16.10. Several Sand Martins also present.

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit still south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, just east of A379 at Youngs Waterpark in conservation area behind lake until 16.00 then flew towards Clennon Valley. Access east along road opposite leisure centre car park. (Thanks H. Cook)

Prawle Point - 3 Black Redstarts (immatures/females) and 10 Northern Wheatears (8 males and 2 females) between Prawle Point and Langerstone Rocks this morning (Thanks T. Marchese and J. Lambert).

Exmouth - 3 Northern Wheatears in first fied on right by Mudbank Lane at 13.40. First winter Yellow-legged Gull briefly on estuary at 12.30 then flew off. (Thanks T. Smith)

Colyford Common - 5 Northern Wheatears, 5 Green Sandpiper and a Ruff present.

Wrafton Pond - 25 Sand Martins over the pond at 18.10.

Budleigh Salterton - No sign of first winter American Herring Gull at Otter Estuary mouth SY.075.820. Whimbrel still on estuary.

Dawlish Warren - 2 Bearded Tits on Main Pond mid afternoon, and the female Surf Scoter still off the sea wall. (Thanks K. Rylands)

South Huish - 2 Garganey (1 drake) on marsh.

Thurlestone - Black Redstart still at Thurlestone Marsh and a Purple Sandpiper in Thurlestone Bay.

Otterton - Cattle Egret one mile south of Otterton on west side of River Otter at 12.05.

Tamar Lakes - 8 Goosanders and a Black Redstart at Lower Tamar Lake mid morning.

Monday 16th

Dawlish Warren - Unconfirmed report of a Great White Egret viewable from hide mid afternoon. Female Surf Scoter still offshore with a Red-throated Diver and 2 Slavonian Grebes. Wheatear and Mediterranean Gull also onsite.

Budleigh Salterton - First winter American Herring Gull still on rocks at Otter Estuary mouth at 17.25 SY.075.820

Budleigh Salterton - American Herring Gull first winter again at the mouth of the River Otter from 16.55 until 17.10 before flying east over the headland. Present on rocks at mouth of river at 18.10 then flew east again. Whimbrel still on estuary with 2 Avocets

Bellever - Great Grey Shrike still south east of Bellever Tor as well as 2 Black Redstarts.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still off Beach House with 4 Slavonian Grebes. Female Marsh Harrier flew north west at midday.

Exminster Marshes - Adult Spoonbill still showing well, viewable from the canal footpath at 14.00.

Budleigh Salterton - American Herring Gull first winter again showing well on rocks at Otter Estuuary mouth 15.46 - 16.30 at least.

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, just east of A379, again at Youngs Waterpark showing well in reeds behind boating lake at 14.57. Access along road opposite leisure centre car park.

Exminster Marshes - Spoonbill and 12 Sand Martins.

Countess Wear - Female Scaup still on Matford Pools as well as 5 Green Sandpiper.

Slapton - 2+ Northern Wheatears present.

Bowling Green Marsh - 3 Little Stints, 4 Garganey (female and 3 drakes) and 9 Sand Martins on marsh. Firecrest still near the viewing platform.

Thursday 12th

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, just east of A379, again at Youngs Waterpark in reeds behind boating lake and showing well at 15.00. Access along road opposite leisure centre car park.

Broadsands - 12 Black-necked Grebes still offshore.

Powderham - Cattle Egret still present. 

Stover CP - 12 Crossbills.

Yealmpton (Plymouth) - Male Black Redstart at Yealm Bridge.

Thurlestone - 3 Sand Martins over Thurlestone Marsh.

Bowling Green Marsh - Spotted Redshank still.

Countess Wear - Female Scaup still at Matford Pools.

Budleigh Salterton - 4 Cattle Egrets north east of Budleigh Salterton at Otter Estuary nature reserve one mile upstream of white bridge along with a Whimbrel.

Bideford - Juvenile Iceland Gull north east of Bideford on Torridge Estuary midway between two bridges off long stay car park. Mediterranean Gull also on estuary but no sign of Little Gull. Swallow west of New Torridge Bridge at 15.00.

Wrafton - 9 Sand Martins over Wrafton Pond at 09.45.

Wednesday 11th

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, just east of A379, again at Youngs Waterpark in willows behind boating lake this morning. Follow road signed Goodington.

Slapton - Bittern in Higher Ley.

Thurlestone - Female Black Redstart still present as well as two Sand Martins.

Torbay - 16 Black-necked Grebes in the bay this morning.

Plymouth - 2 Black Redstarts in east corner of Central Park this afternoon.

Seaton - Mediterranean Gull on Axe Estuary by Coronation Corner.

Bideford - Little Gull on river at 08.43 but no sign late afternoon SS.459.271.

Isley Marsh - 4 Spoonbills still present.

Yelland - No sign of Cattle Egret along Tarka Trail at Lower Yelland Farm SS.490.325.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still off the sea wall.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still off the sea wall with 2 Slavonian Grebes. 2 Pale-bellied Brent Geese in estuary.

Powderham - 1+ Cattle Egret still at Powderham Park.

Kingsbridge - 4 Cattle Egrets still at Park Farm. Please view only from lane to Gerston water treatment works.

South Milton - Possible Siberian Chiffchaff at South Milton Ley.

Seaton - Pale-bellied Brent Goose on Axe Estuary.

Fremington - 2 Spoonbills on rocks by Fremington Quay at mid day.

Saturday 7th

Dartmouth - Probable ALPINE ACCENTOR on 27th February 4 miles west north west of Dartmouth and south of Allaleigh near Woodlands Holiday Park. Seen at close range in area with no public access, but no sign since - bird will be looked for again on Monday 9th.

Budleigh Salterton - First winter American Herring Gull still on Otter Estuary 14.00 - 14.30 then flew east.

Powderham - 3 Cattle Egrets still in field behind round house SX.962.848.

Starcross - Adult Black Brant again on Starcross Golf Course until 15.30 when it flew towards Dawlish Warren.

Broadsands - 11 Black-necked Grebes and 6 Eiders off Broadsands. Probable Siberian Chiffchaff still in car park.

Kingsbridge - 3 Cattle Egrets still at Park Farm viewable from lane to Gerston water treatment works.

Brixham - Male Black Redstart still in car park at Shakham.

West Charleton Marsh - Ringtail Hen Harrier west at 11.00. Female Marsh Harrier 10.45 - 11.30 then flew towards Slapton. Pale-bellied Brent Goose still in estuary.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still offshore with 3 Red-throated Divers mid afternoon. 3 Mediterranean Gulls , a Spotted Redshank and a Slavonian Grebe in the estuary. Red-necked Grebe and 2 Slavonian Grebes at Rockstone.

Matford Pools - Female Scaup still present as well as 4 Green Sandpipers.

Dartmoor - Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers at Yarner and Dunsford.

Barnstaple - 6 Goosanders off Pottington this morning.

Friday 6th

Budleigh Salterton - First winter American Herring Gull again just east of Budleigh Salterton on Otter Estuary from hide on east side early afternoon and still present at 15.45 but no further sign by 16.30. Please note: there will be disturbance on the estuary tomorrow between 10:00 and 12:00, due to a litter clean-up session.

Paignton - No sign of male Penduline Tit south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, just east of A379 at Youngs Waterpark. Follow road signed Goodrington.

Goodrington - 14 Black-necked Grebes on sea between Goodrington and Broadsands this morning as well as a Great Northern Diver.

Preston - 12 Black-necked Grebes offshore.

Bideford - First winter Little Gull on river at 14.30 then flew towards Southcott SS.468.268. 3 Mediterranean Gull also present. Firecrest at Bradiford nature reserve by Tarka Trail. Mandarin on River Taw.

Braunton - 2 Ruff still on River Caen just south of Toll House at 11.30.

Taw Estuary - 2 immature Spoonbills still on estuary at Pottington late morning.

Thursday 5th

Barnstaple - Proable adult Kumlien's Gull on River Taw just south of B3233 bridge off North Devon Leisure Centre at 15.00 then flew downstream. Immature Spoonbill just east of Taw Bridge off Anchor Wood Bank in afternoon.

Matford Pools - Female Scaup still present as well as 2 Green Sandpipers and a Jack Snipe.

Kingsbridge Estuary - 2 Spotted Redshanks in Lincombe Bay.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still offshore with 5 Slavonian Grebes.

Plymouth - Black Redstart at West Hoe.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still offshore as well as 2 Slavonian Grebes and a Mediterranean Gull.

Beer - Female Black Redstart on Beer Beach in afternoon.

Yelland - Cattle Egret still along Tarka Trail in first field beyond Lower Yelland Farm at 11.00 SS.490.325.

Wrafton - 4 Spoonbills again on Wrafton Marsh early morning, then on Isley Marsh again at high tide. 

Braunton - 2 Ruff still on River Caen in afternoon at SS.487.349.

Fremington - Spotted Redshank and Greenshank still at Fremington Pill.

Dartmoor - Male Snow Bunting at Ryders Hill.

Bowling Green Marsh - 4 Sand Martins.

Braunton - 2 Ruff on River Caen near runway landing lights.

Monday 2nd

Kingsbridge - 3 Cattle Egrets still at Park Farm viewable from lane to Gerston water treatment works.

Matford Pools - Female Scaup and Green Sandpiper still.

Preston - 16 Black-necked Grebes offshore.

Goodrington - 4 Black-necked Grebes.

Broadsands - 4 Black-necked Grebes offshore (including full summer pumaged bird).

Paignton - Male Penduline Tit still south of Paignton and east of Clennon Valley, just east of A379 at Youngs Waterpark showing well in reeds at back of lake by railway mid morning. Follow road signed to Goodrington.

Seaton - 2 juvenile Iceland Gulls still on Axe Estuary.

Wrafton Pond - 2 Sand Martins over in afternoon.

Isley Marsh - 4 Spoonbills still. Spotted Redshank by Tarka Trail.

Sunday 1st

Woolfardisworthy - Rough-legged Buzzard adult female reported at Trew Plantation at 15.30.

Paignton - Juvenile Iceland Gull on rocks at Hollicombe Beach at low tide at 15.00. 17 Black-necked Grebes offshore.

Goodrington - 11 Black-necked Grebes and a Slavonian Grebe off sea front.

Broadsands - 4 Black-necked Grebes and a Red-throated Diver offshore.

Clennon Valley - Again no sign of male Penduline Tit at Clennon Valley or Youngs Waterpark by late morning. Park in leisure centre car park and take the path south west past the football pitches. SX.884.593. Wellingtons recommended, path is muddy.

Bowling Green Marsh - Spotted Redshank on Clyst Estuary from viewing platform.

Kingsbridge - 4 Cattle Egrets at Park Farm. View from lane to Gerston water treatment works.

Dawlish Warren - Female Surf Scoter still off the sea wall with 2 Slavonian Grebes.

Starcross - Black Brant still on golf course with Dark-bellied Brent Geese.

Seaton - Juvenile Iceland Gull again on Axe Estuary viewable from Coronation Corner at 16.30.

Yelland - Cattle Egret at Isley Marsh RSPB at 11.45 with Little Egrets. Merlin and 4 Spoonbills also present.
